Promote Your Business With Digital Advertising
Pay Per Click+ Ad Management (PPC+)

Digital Advertising or Internet Advertising is the use of paid internet ads to drive leads and awareness for your business on search engines, social media, and the rest of the internet, wherever ad space is available.
The internet has evolved to offer both paid and earned space to promote your business, following after traditional media – compare with the newspaper which had advertising next to and around the editorial, and even had “advertorial” space on occassion. Yet, digital advertising has a huge advantage over traditional advertising with the ability to reach a larger audience, target the ads, control the spending budget and track conversions.
The Digital Marketing industry traditionally labels digital advertising as PPC, which stands for Pay-Per-Click advertising. Some professionals have also used the phrase “marketing” interchangeably with PPC and have called ad campaign managers “marketers”, to distinguish them from professionals who perform organic services such Search Engine Optimization or Social Media Optimization. However, this can be confusing since the layperson would interpret the word “marketing” to include both earned and paid media.
Mirex Marketing follows the traditional use of the word “marketing” and affirms marketing to be a combination of both paid and earned media. We therefore consider Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to be both Search Engine Advertising (SEA) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), SEM = SEA + SEO. Social Media Marketing (SMM) is both Social Media Advertising (SMA) and Social Media Optimization (SMO), SMM = SMA + SMO. And Content Marketing is both Organic Content Marketing and Paid Content Marketing, CM = OCM + PCM.
Furthermore, the abbreviation PPC is outdated since there are now internet advertising platforms that allow the advertiser to pay for other high-value user actions besides clicks, such as phone calls, form fill outs, booking appointments, ecommerce sales and other possible conversions. So Mirex Marketing coins the abbreviation PPC+ to represent pay-per-click plus other high value actions.
Why use Digital Advertising to promote your business:
Achieve marketing objectives quicker than organic marketing with straightforward results.
Digital advertising is the most straightforward form of digital marketing – you pay for the ads to drive awareness and leads, most of the basic metrics for monitoring the campaigns are built-in, and you don’t have to wait as long as organic strategies to get the results.
Search Engine Optimization, a strategy to drive organic traffic to your website and business, might produce just as many leads and even produce higher quality leads once your business is ranking on the first page, but it can take 6 months to get to that point, (or longer if you’re in a competitive industry). On the other hand, advertising on Google Ads will get you at the top of search results potentially the day the campaigns are made live (though it is important to note that Search Engine Advertising still has an optimization period). Social Media Optimization can also be a time-consuming and lengthy process, but advertising on Facebook, Instagram and other social media channels can produce leads quicker and build your following quicker and easier.
Digital Advertising is not always used to drive direct leads to a business. Direct leads is the most common goal for businesses that have search volume for their products and services. If the products or the pain points they solve have search volume, then Google is usually the first line of promotion, both paid and organic.
Yet other businesses need to drive awareness of their brand and products before they can expect leads. Sales-based organizations will often want to tailor their advertising to match the sales process, meaning they intend to nurture the prospect with multiple touch points and educate them before converting them into a lead. This strategy would combine initial advertising with forms of remarketing. Remarketing is when you are marketing to an internet user who has already shown interest in your offering. It can be done through multiple advertising channels, including some which target past visitors to your website or even visitors who have not completed certain actions, like ecommerce shopping cart abandonment. (Remarketing can also be done with Email Marketing, more on that below).

The phrase “search engine marketing” might mean different things to the layperson and to digital marketing professionals. Within the industry “search engine marketing” is often synonymous with “pay-per-click” advertising on search engines, the most dominant being Google. Yet the traditional use of the word “marketing” means much more than just advertising; so the layperson may interpret “search engine marketing” to mean any use of search engines, both paid and organic, to promote their business. Mirex Marketing considers Search Engine Marketing (SEM) to be both Search Engine Advertising (which we would coin as SEA), and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). (SEM = SEA + SEO). Further, the use of the label “pay-per-click” advertising is also becoming outadated, since there are now digital advertising platforms that allow the advertiser to pay for other high-value actions besides clicks. Mirex Marketing will therefore often abbreviate digital advertising as PPC+, for “pay-per-click plus”.
How do I know if my ad campaigns are working?
Important Metrics for Monitoring Digital Ad Campaigns.
The following are the most basic metrics that you need to know to understand how your digital ad campaigns are performing. They help us see the user’s entire experience from the time they see the ad to the time they become a lead or other conversion. Conversions can be anything you want to track which we are capable of tracking. Conversions can be as simple as website page views or clicking to watch a video, but when you’re tracking calls, form fill outs, directions to your store, ecommerce checkouts and other possible actions then they are lead-conversions, and in the case of ecommerce, sales-conversions.
Comparing baseline metrics with metrics after the campaigns have been running for a period of time can help us know if the campaigns are improving, and where we might need to adjust the campaigns.
Some of these metrics can also be used for cross-channel advertising comparison, which is explained with each metric below, but that gets tricky since every advertising channel has their own way of reporting, and it’s not always an apples to apples comparison.
Impressions
Impressions are the number of times the ad is displayed on a screen.
Clicks
Clicks are the number of times the ad is clicked. (or tapped on mobile).
Click Through Rate, CTR
CTR is the number of clicks divided by the number of impressions.
Conversions
Conversions are any high-value actions that are being tracked.
Cost Per Mille, CPM
Cost Per Mille is the cost per thousand impressions.
Cost Per Click, CPC
Cost Per Click is the average cost for each time the ad is clicked.
Cost Per Conversion
Cost/Conv = Total cost divided by the number of conversions.
Total Cost
The total cost of the campaign.
Keep in mind that these are only the most basic metrics. Some advertising platforms will have other metrics for their specialized media. For example, a video platform might have a View Through Rate (VTR) which tells you the percentage of people that watch the entire video. Social Media Advertising will also have their social metrics, such as likes, comments and shares. It’s also important to note that not all tracking systems are 100% accurate. The machine is not perfect and the internet is a lot to process. But we use the information that is available to us to try to improve however we can.
Can these be compared with industry standards? Yes, when the information is available. But, its not always available. You can go to an agency who archives that kind of data for when they are managing campaigns, but these agencies will usually charge 2-4 times more for campaign management, and even then, there is no guarantee that the industry data is still relevant to you. It could be outdated, or collected during a different season, or represent nationwide data when you’re in a local market, or there may even be other reasons why the data is not relevant.
How The Impressions Metric Is Used:
This is the beginning of the user journey. It’s an indicator of Reach, but it’s not exactly the same as Reach.
Reach is the number of people the ad reaches. If the ad shows on the screen one time and two people see it, then the Impressions is 1 and the Reach is 2. For search and display ads it’s not that common for more than 1 engaged person to view a screen at a time, but it can happen. For audio and video ads it’s more common, but we can’t detect how many are listening or watching, so Impressions gives us the best number for Reach.
If Awareness is the goal of your advertising then you’d want as much Reach as possible, and Impressions would become one of the more important metrics.
When comparing digital marketing with traditional marketing, this metric can be used to compare the ability to Reach a target audience and CPM would be used to compare the cost of Reaching that audience. Read “More Info” for CPM to learn more.
How The Clicks Metric Is Used:
Of course we want the user to see the ad and click it.
This is how many users have seen the ad and were interested enough to click on it. If it’s a pay-per-click campaign and they don’t click, then you don’t pay. (Compare that with other forms of advertising; where else can they say that you will only pay if people show interest?)
If the goal of your campaign is Website Traffic, then you’d want as many clicks as possible.
The number of clicks is also important for calculating Click-Through-Rate (CTR) and Cost Per Click (CPC).
The Click Through Rate (CTR) is an indicator of relevancy. It is calculated as Clicks divided by Impressions multiplied by 100%, which means there are three ways for this number to increase:
- Clicks increase while Impressions stay the same
- Clicks stay the same while Impressions decrease
- Clicks increase while Impressions decrease.
Sometimes clients ask why their Impressions are going down while the CTR is increasing. If leads, not awareness, is the campaign goal and the CTR is increasing, then you’re getting more targeted leads for less. The campaign is becoming more efficient.
How The Conversions Metric Is Used:
There are multiple actions that the user can take which we can track and each of these actions are set up as “conversions”. These actions can occur either on the ad itself or on the landing page. Some ad platforms and analytics tools call these “events”.
Examples of conversions could be ecommerce checkouts, calls, form fillouts, getting directions to your store, opting in to an email newsletter, viewing an important page, watching a video or other actions that support the campaign goals.
If the goal of the campaign is Leads, then Conversions becomes the most important metric, specifically lead-conversions like calls, contact form fill-outs, and chatbot engagements.
Conversions are often an action that the user takes on the landing page that the ad leads to, but it can also be an action taken within the ad itself. In some cases the lead can be captured without even leading the user to a landing page. For social media campaigns this can sometimes work better because the social media platform prefers to keep users on their platform instead of having them click away to your website.
If the ad leads to a landing page, then an additional metric, Conversion Rate, can help indicate if the landing page is optimized for conversion.
Tracking Conversions often requires additional setup beyond the basic campaign. For Google Ads, using Google Tag Manager for tracking conversions is much more effective than the standard tracking codes provided by Google Ads.
If an agency or freelancer does not set up conversion tracking, then that is a sign that they are not as professional or not as knowledgeable in ad management. Conversions should always be set up when the platform makes it available. Even when conversion tracking is not available from the platform, there are options to set up conversion tracking, even for offline campaigns.
How CPM Is Used:
The Cost Per Mille, CPM, or Cost Per Thousand Impressions helps make a baseline comparison with other Reach metrics. It’s similar to calculating cost per square foot in real estate. One house might have a little more square feet, but they are more equally compared by calculating the cost per square foot. Calculating the cost per thousand impressions is not an apples to apples comparison between all advertising channels, but it’s as close as we can get most of the time for Reach.
For example, if you’re comparing digital advertising with print advertising, you’d compare the CPM of digital ads with the cost per thousand delivered prints. A fair point is that in the case of print advertising, more than one person can see the ad per print – if a post card is left on a kitchen desk then both the husband and wife might see it. However print advertising is not nearly as targeted, and most of the time digital marketing will blow traditional marketing out of the water when it comes to targeted Reach and the cost to Reach a target audience.
How The CPC Metric Is Used:
The Cost Per Click (CPC) metric is often noted as Avg CPC because the cost of each click dynamically goes up and down each time the ad is clicked. Some clicks cost more, some clicks cost less, but the cost averages out.
This metric is used to compare two or more different digital advertising channels. If channel A costs less per click than channel B, then that is one reason to put more money into channel A. It would mean that you’d be driving more interested people to your website at the same price or less. But it’s only one consideration; you’d also want to look at the other metrics too, like Conversions or the quality of the lead as reported by sales team feedback.
How The Cost Per Conversion Metric Is Used:
The Cost Per Conversion, often abbreviated as cost/conv, can help the business determine if leads are profitable. However that can lead into additional metrics that are recorded by sales teams, since their close rate won’t always be 100% (It would be nice, but that’s not usually how it works).
This metric can be used to compare one marketing channel with another. If a particular channel is getting a lower cost per lead (and the leads generally close to become sales), then the business would put more money into that channel to get more leads for less money.
How The Total Cost Metric Is Used:
The Total Cost tells you if the campaigns are running within approved bugets. It can also be used to calculate other metrics, such as Cost/Conv. The Cost/Conv would the be Total Cost divided by the number of Conversions.
Why Hire Mirex Marketing For Digital Ad Management:
Mirex Marketing will effectively manage your ads with transparency, while avoiding conflicts of interest.
There are generally two models for digital ad campaign management:
Model 1: The agency runs campaigns on their own ad account. They report using their own dashboard using only the metrics they want you to see. They collect a whole amount from the client which covers their ad management fee plus the ad budget. And when you part ways with them, they keep all the campaigns and historical data leaving you to start again from scratch.
Model 2: The agency runs campaigns on YOUR account, which means you will always have the historical campaigns, data and access to all the metrics reported by the platform. You pay the ad budget directly to the platform and pay a management fee to the agency.
In Model 1 the agency can choose to spend less on the ad budget and keep more for themselves if the campaigns are running well. In Model 2 there is a fixed amount that you pay the agency and if the campaigns are running well, you keep the difference!
Mirex Marketing uses Model 2, and we hope that once we start managing the campaigns you won’t want us to stop for a very long-lasting working relationship. However, if you ever decided to discontinue the service, then the account would still be yours.
We will often set up a reporting dashboard, especially if you are running campaigns on more than one channel. However, this for easy reference and cross-channel comparison, and it does not take away your direct access from your accounts on each platform. Those accounts are yours; they always will be yours, and as a policy Mirex Marketing does not hold digital properties hostage.
For search engine advertising and possibly other channels, it is also a conflict of interest for an agency to run campaigns for two competing clients with the same target in the same market. Not only are both clients sponsoring the learning of an agency who is running ads for their direct competitors, the agency is driving up the price against both clients since each and every search query is an auction for the clicks, meaning their own clients are bidding against each other. Agencies justify this by saying the market is big enough to make this negligible and the competitors will hire an agency to do it anyway, so it might as well be them. Mirex Marketing will not represent competitors in the same market for lead generation services. When we run ad campaigns for you, those campaigns will be customized for your business. No other competitor will be running the same campaign. We won’t stop to consider if something working for you can be applied to your competitor because we won’t be doing ads for your competitor, we will only be managing ads for you in your market.

How much should I budget for advertising?
That depends on the campaign goals, the stage of your business (startup, growth, expansion), the size of your business (number of employees to keep busy), and your competition.
A “low budget” is between $200-$800 per month. There are low budget advertising options on this page. Most agencies will not offer to manage these campaigns. You can manage them on your own if you wish, but if you don’t want to manage them, then Mirex Marketing has a low budget ad management option. If your budget is higher than this, then it makes sense to have a professional manage the campaigns. If you don’t have this budget then work to organically build your business until you have the budget to add paid advertising to your marketing mix.
A “standard” budget is between $1,000 to $5,000 per month. Except where noted for low budget options, most businesses would not want to test a particular platform unless they had at least $1,000 to put into the budget for at least 3 months. For text and display ads this includes ad creative production. For audio and video ads there may be additional funds required for ad creative production.
The minimum effective budget of any platform can be higher than $1,000/mo if your industry has high competition or if you have more employees where you need more work to keep them busy. For example, home service businesses with 5-10 people or more may want to plan for advertising budgets of at least $3,000 to $5,000 per month or more, without neglecting other areas of their marketing mix. For any industry, the minum effective budget will be higher for larger organizations and higher competition in the market you are in.
A “high” budget is between $5,000 to $10,000 for small to medium-sized businesses.
Obviously major factor is going to be availability of funds. Once a business is established and has some data to work with, then they can determine their budget based on goals. For example, if you know you want 100 new customers a month and it costs about $10 per customer, then you know you need to spend $1,000 on advertising.
Nonprofit organizations, including 501(c)(3) and other qualifying organizations are eligle for the Google Ad Grant. Mirex Marketing will manage Google Ad Grant campaigns for free. The grant is a $10,000/mo ad credit on Google Ads to run search and performance max campaigns. Usually a Nonprofit would add this to their marketing mix and not depend on it. The budgets listed above for other PPC+ would still apply.
These are budgets to be applied to paid advertising only, generally per platform. This does not include the rest of your marketing and the rest of your marketing should not be neglected while paid ads are used a crutch. Paid ads work better when the organic marketing is optimized.
If those budgets are just for paid advertising, how much should I budget for my all my marketing?
That also depends on business goals, the stage of your business (startup, growth, expansion), the size of your business (number of employees to keep busy), and your competition.
If you look at your standard Income Statement, or Profit & Loss Statement, a general guideline is 5-20% of your annual Revenue, though we prefer to make it a percentage of Gross Income (after Costs of Good sold), since marketing is an operational cost. It’s not a guideline that always works with startups; sometimes startups cannot base it on a percentage of Revenue. That percentage will go up or be in the higher end if you are trying to grow your business. It will go down if you are in a business with a lot of overhead (since those are costs that will be a higher total percentage of operations).
How much does Mirex Marketing charge to manage PPC+ Campaigns?
The industry standard is 20% of the ad budget. We have specific tiers with that percentage towards the bottom portion of the range so that we can help your business gradually move towards higher ad budgets as the campaigns become more optimized. This allows your business to grow without us being a hindering factor.
Management for low budget campaigns is between $50-$100/mo. For standard budgets and above the minimum is $200/mo.
Is Ad Creative Production included with PPC+ Campaign Management?
For text and display ads, ad creative production is included. If we are running audio or video ads then a seperate budget may be required for ad creative production, especially for commercial-grade videos made for streaming TV ads.
Can Mirex Marketing manage our ad campaigns even if someone else built our website?
That depends on the quality of your website. If it is not optimizated for conversions then we may not. The last thing we want is for a client to blame us for the ads not working when they don’t put the required effort into the landing pages for those ads.
If we are managing the site through the Webmaster Service then its more likely, but if the site really needs it then we will suggest a rebuild before we start managing the ads.
What if I want to advertise on a platform that is not listed? Can Mirex Marketing still help?
Yes, we can still help. Contact us to discuss your marketing goals.
We have a full creative team capable of producing ad creatives, up to and including commercial-grade video.

Low Budget Ad Plaforms, DIY or Managed by Mirex Marketing
These are platforms that smaller businesses or start-ups can try with a low ad budget and these can be do-it-yourself (DIY) options. Mirex Marketing also has a low budget ad management service for businesses that do not want to manage ads on their own.
A low advertising budget would be between $200-$800 per month. That’s a general guideline for paid advertising and does not include other marketing that your business might need. It would also not be wise to attempt any type of advertising without a completed business-grade website to act as a landing page for your ads, though some platforms can capture the lead without a click through to the website.
These platforms are simply options that you can try with a low budget; they are not guaranteed to work well on a low budget. Your competition can drive up the minimum effective budget on any particular platform in any particular market. If it hasn’t worked after trying it for three months, then adapt what you’re doing, get a professional to help, or try something else.

Single Website Ads or Small Ad Network
First To Be Hidden
More Details:
There are thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of websites online that have enough traffic to offer advertising on their own without being part of an ad network. They usually focus on a specific niche like style, food, or humor. This is almost like a modern form of magazine advertising.
Sometimes a few of these websites will team up or be owned by a parent organization that offers advertising on all of them as part of a small network.
Mirex Academy (will have) a course that demonstrates how to find these sites. The downloads page will also have an ebook that lists many of them.
Examples of these sites include Chambers of Commerce, the websites of local newspapers and popular websites that attract a specific demographic, such as boredpanda.com or ebaumsworld.com.
Some of these, especially newspaper sites, will try to upsell marketing services. We do not recommend those services. At the very least talk to us first. Mirex Marketing account managers are not sales people, we are consultants.
Some of these may not actually be low budget options. If the minimum budget required is over $800 then it makes more sense to try Google Ads first, unless the site is really good for your specific target.

Email Marketing

More Details:
Email Marketing is technically not Digital Advertising or PPC+, and we don’t actually list it here as a DIY option. It’s best if you have a professional to help. The reason we list it here is that it is the most still cost-effective method of remarketing. See near the bottom of the page for more details.

Google Ads - Search, Display, Video, Apps, Shopping, YouTube Ads
93% of online experiences begin with a search engine, 80-90% of the time that search engine is Google, plus Google has a display and video ad network across millions of partner websites and mobile apps where they claim to reach 90% of internet users.
The Google Ads platform (formerly Google Adwords) has the most powerful targeting and bidding capabilities of all advertising platforms. If your business is ready for paid advertising, then usually Google is the first and best option compared to all other advertising options, both online and offline.
Ad types on Google Ads include the following:
- Search Ads
- Display Ads
- Video Ads
- Shopping Ads
- App Ads

What happened to Google Local Traffic Campaigns?
These have been replaced by Performance Max Campaigns, which can now include the goal of local store visits.
What happened to Google Discovery Campaigns?
These have been replaced by Demand Gen Campaigns.
What happened to Waze Ads?
Waze Ads have been replaced by Performance Max Campaigns.
What are Responsive Search Ads?
Responsive search ads are when we give the platform a collection of titles, descriptions and possibly other assets like images, and then the platform can mix and match between them to produce the best ad for a particular search query. The ad creative responds to the search query.
What are Dynamic Search Ads?
Dynamic Search Ads use content from the landing page to create the ad. This makes the user experience more consistent from the time they see the ad, click it and then view the landing page.
Which sites are part of the Google Display Network?
The Google Display Network consists of Google-owned properties, partner websites & partner apps.
Google-owned properties include YouTube, Gmail, Blogger, Google Finance and possibly others.
Partner websites are far too numerous to list here, but it is any site that participates in the Google Adsense program. These sites agree to display Google Ads for a share of ad revenue.
Partner apps are far too numerous to list here, but it is any site that participates with AdMob. These apps agree to display Google Ads for a share of ad revenue.
Between Google-owned properties, partner websites and partner apps, Google claims to reach about 90% of the intnernet.
If Google can reach over 90% of the internet and they have the best advertising technology, is there ever a reason not to use Google Ads?
There are some reasons not to consider Google Ads first, but not many. Here are some of the reasons:
- Your business does not have a budget higher than the minimum effective budget so you have to tray a different ad platform or other marketig besides PPC+.
- Google Ad Policies make it especially difficult to advertise your niche on their platform.
- Even aside from ad policy, another platform might be better for your particular niche.
- Google Ads is so over-saturated with competitors in your industry that the clicks and leads you are getting are irrelevant and expesive.
In most other cases Google Ads should be the first consideration for paid ads, for Search, Display or Video, and that includes all advertising channels both online and offline.
Another consideration is to use Google Ads in combination with other channels (not using another platform instead of Google, but in addtion to Google). You’d want to consider this when you’ve reached a plateau in Google Ads and you are passing the point of diminishing returns, so you need to supplement Google Ads with another platform to try to use that excess budget more efficiently.
Does Mirex Marketing ad management include creative production?
For all ad platforms (not just Google Adwords), text and image ad creatives are included with ad management services. Audio and Video ads might have a seperate production budget, especially if you need commercial-grade ads.
What kind of ad campaigns can Nonprofits run with the Google Ad Grant?
Currently the permitted campaign types are Search Ad Campaigns and Performance Max Campaigns. They cannot offer display or video campaigns because they share revenue with publishers for those ads, so they cannot volunteer that inventory. Yet, a nonprofit can do well by letting the Google Ad Grant cover all search and performance max campaigns while using a seperate paid account to run display and video campaigns.
What is Google Marketing 360, Display & Video 360? Is it the same or different from Google Adwords?
Google Adwords is an ad network consisting of Google properties and millions of partner websites and apps. Partner websites display Google Ads by joining the Adsense program and placing ad code on their website. Partner apps display Google Ads by joining the Admob program and placing ad code on their mobile apps.
Google Marketing 360 is an enterprise-grade tool for multi-channel marketing. It allows the advertiser or marketing agency to buy ad placements on the Google Adwords Network, as well as beyond the Google Adwords Network.

Meta Ads - Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, Messenger Ads, WhatsApp Ads, Threads Ads

Does Facebook ever deliver ads on Oculus Quest apps?
Oculus Quest is a virtual reality gaming headset that is owned by Meta.
There may be some ad spaces on Oculus Quest apps. Meta has tested this in the past and may continue to test it. So far it’s not a major part of their ad inventory.
What is the difference between boosting a post and Facebook Ads?
The metrics for boosting a post and Facebook Ad campaigns might be in the same place.
The major differences are where the promotion is initiated and what the goal is.
Facebook post boosting is done from the Facebook Business Page using a button on the post itself which only the page admin can see. The goal of boosting a post should be to increase user engagement with the post itself and with the business page, meaning you want more likes, comments, and shares of the post and more page followers. Of course this can produce some leads, but it might not. If leads are the goal then it’s better to run a Facebook Ad campaign.
Facebook Ad campaigns are set up through a Facebook Ads account which is connected to the Facebook Business page, Instagram account, and other properties on Meta. They are connected through the Meta Business Dashboard (which is even distinct from the Facebook Business dashboard and the Facebook Business Page settings, confusing, right?).
The goals of Facebook ad campaigns might be awareness or leads. If set up properly they will include conversion tracking, which is setup by installing the Facebook Pixel on the business website and setting up Events, which is what Facebook calls conversions.
Why are Facebook ads and business tools so complicated?
To really answer that you’d have to ask Facebook engineers. However, professionals know how to navigate ads and business tools and that’s why it’s beneficial to hire professionals like Mirex Marketing.
Even if you’re not running ads, it’s worth it to let us set up your Facebook Business Page and Instagram account, connect the two together and add them both to your Meta Business account. See Social Media Marketing for more information.
Are WhatsApp Ads seperate from other Meta properties?
WhatsApp Ads is part of Meta Ads. You can create ad campaigns on the WhatsApp Business App, which deliver ads on Facebook and Instagram with the goal to initiate WhatsApp chat sessions for the business.
Ad campaigns created on a Facebook Ads account can also produce chat sessions on WhatsApp.

Microsoft Ad Network (MAN), Bing Ads and more.
Since Bing is probably the prominent property of Microsoft, Microsoft Ads is often used synonymously with “Bing Ads” (it was also officially called Bing Ads before rebranding to the Microsoft Ad Network). However, the Microsoft Ad Network (MAN) consists of both Microsoft properties and Microsoft partner sites. When running campaigns on the Microsoft Ad Network the advertiser has the option to show ads on the whole network or just Microsoft properties.
Ad types include the following:
- Multimedia Ads (Display & Video)
- Responsive Search Ads
- Dynamic Search Ads
- Product Ads
- Vertical Ads
- App Install Ads

I know Google is the most popular search engine. What is the 2nd most popular? Is it Bing?
YouTube is the 2nd most popular search engine. It gets more searches per day than all other search engines combined, except Google, and it happens to be owned by Google.
Yet Bing and other search engines do offer some unique alternatives and opportunities to reach people that don’t use Google and/or might be used in combination with Google Ads.
If Google can reach 90% of the internet and they have the most sophisticated ad platform, then why would a business consider Microsoft Ads?
There are some reasons not to consider Google Ads first, but not many. Here are some of the reasons:
- Your business does not have a budget higher than the minimum effective budget so you have to try a different ad platform.
Yet, another consideration is to use Google Ads in combination with Microsoft Ads (not using it instead of Google, but in addtion to Google). You’d want to consider this when you’ve reached a plateau in Google Ads and you are passing the point of diminishing returns, so you need to supplement Google Ads with another platform to try to use that excess budget more efficiently. If you’re running Search Ads then Microsoft Ads is the next logical choice since their network has the major search engines after Google and YouTube.
Are CTV Ads on Xbox part of Microsoft Ads?
Yes.
Xbox is a gaming console owned by Microsoft. In addition to playing video games, console owners can use it to to watch streaming internet TV.
CTV is an abbreviation of Connected TV, which is any device that is used to stream internet TV, and that includes Xbox. See more on Streaming TV Ads below.
Does Yahoo! have its own advertising platform or is it part of the Microsoft Ad Network.
Both; it has it’s own platform and it’s part of the Microsoft Ad Network.
How can DuckDuckGo have advertising when they claim to be a search engine that doesn't track user behavior?
DuckDuckGo is a search engine that does not track user behavior. Ads are shown based on keyword relevance only.
Are the properties listed above the entire Microsoft Ad Network or just a part of it?
The properties listed above are just a part of the Microsoft Ad Network. Microsoft does not disclose what their entire network is, and even if they did it would be too many sites to list here.

LinkedIn Ads
LinkedIn is the top social network for corporate working professionals. Their organic format is very similar to Facebook with posts typically consisting of text combined with an image, though other media is accepted. And they have similar social features of liking, commenting, sharing posts, following pages, groups, etc. A paid LinkedIn membership allows the member to see who viewed their profile. There are some powerful tools for sale teams to use LinkedIn for prospecting.
As an ad platform, LinkedIn Ads is among the top ten most used platforms, and the ads are usually used by advertisers with B2B services, job recruting and any industry that might have a sales team. The ads can target corporate working professionals from entry-level employees to executives. The ads usually have a sales-based strategy, not always focused on immediate direct leads but often incorporating re-marketing for multiple touchpoints and nurturing the prospects who initially show interest. The ads can also be used for awareness.
Ad types include the following:
- Single Image Ad
- Carousel Ad
- Video Ad
- Text Ad
- Dynamic Ad
- Sponsored Messaging*: Message Ad
- Sponsored Messaging*: Conversation Ad

Click the + icon for each question to toggle the answer.
Do LinkedIn Ads work for all B2B?
It works for corporate B2B. LinkedIn is a corporate environment. If your target is more small business owners then it may or may not be effective.
What is the difference between a LinkedIn post boost and LinkedIn Ads?
A LinkedIn post boost increases the reach of the post itself. The post is published on the LinkedIn Business page first and then boosted from the page. The goal should be to increase engagement with the post. If your advertising goal is to get leads then that is accomplished better with LinkedIn Ads.
LinkedIn Ads are managed through a LinkedIn Ads account and it has substantially more features for targeting, bidding and conversion tracking than simply boosting a post.
What are LinkedIn Messaging Ads?
LinkedIn Messaging is similar to Facebook Messenger. It allows users on Linkedin to message each other. Sales people can use paid LinkedIn Messaging Ads to initiate conversations with prospects.
Do you have other resources for sales teams?
Yes, check out the Resources page for CRMs and other tools.

Reddit Ads
Reddit is a social media site where users can submit content or ask each other questions. They can also vote items up or down so the items with the higher votes appear at the top. It’s a collection of online forums with specific categories called “subreddits”. Advertising on Reddit can be leveraged to reach the audiences engaged in any of these subreddits including beauty & style, fashion & apparel, tech & gaming, food & grocery, parenting, home & lifestyle and many others. The conversations can get very specific, so Reddit is an opportunity to reach very niche audiences.
A common practice among Reddit users is to start their search in Google. They might make a search on a specific topic and include “Reddit” as part of the search querry so that they can see any subreddits and user comments that are related.
Reddit also claims a high percentage of users that are not on any other social media platform. Those particular users cannot be reached through any other social media advertising. Among the top social media platforms, Redddit is one of the last that still feels organic and less commercialized to their users. The ads appear natively and are non-intrusive to Reddit conversations.
Ad types include the following:
- Free-form Ads
- Image Ads
- Video Ads
- Carousel Ads
- Conversation Ads
- Product Ads
- Ask Me Anything Ads
- Reddit Takeover
- Category Takeover
- First View

X Ads (Formerly Twitter Ads)
X is a microblogging platform formerly known as Twitter. It has many of the standard features of any social media site, including likes, comments, shares and following (or subscribing) to other people’s profiles (or business profiles). The hallmark feature of X is that the posts are limited to 280 characters for free users, which is why it is classified as a microblogging platform. Paid users can have up to 25,000 characters in a post. Posts can also include images or video.
Despite some criticism for the rebranding of Twitter to X, X continues to be among the top social media networks with over 535 million active users.
Ad types on X include the following:
- Image Ads
- Video Ads
- Carousel Ads
- Text Ads
- Vertical Video Ads
- X Amplify
- X Takeovers
- X Live
- Dynamic Product Ads
- Collection Ads

Pinterest Ads
Pinterest is an image-rich social media site where images can be shared from throughout the internet. A user might be reading a favorite blog and see an image they like so they share it to Pinterest. On Pinterest people can then engage with the image or click to see the website here it came from. Feeds in Pinterest are laid out in a mosaic grid so the user experience is centered on the images until they dive deaper. They can also search for specific topics to see images related to that topic. They can also “pin” the image to save it to their own collections. Pinterest also has a shopping section where images of products are shown and the user can click through to buy them.
Some specific niches that Pinterest is good for include art, food & beverage, home decor, DIY & crafts, beauty, fashion, entertainment, parenting, travel, weddings, health, electronics, sports, and finance among others.
Ad types include the following:
- Standard Pin
- Standard Video
- Max Width Video
- Shopping Ads
- Carousel
- Collections
- Idea Ads
- Quiz Ads

Search Engine Advertising (SEA)
Search Engine Advertising is running ads that appear on search engine results. This is one of few inbound advertising methods because users are “in-market” when they search for products they need.
Search Engine Advertising includes the following ad types:
- Search Ads (mostly text with snippets and sometimes a small image and other ad assets)
- Call Only Ads
- Performance Max (a Google campaign type that mixes ad delivery in search results with display advertising)
- Local Traffic Ads (A former Google campaign type that places the ad in the Local Pack, this is now accomplished with Performance Max campaigns)
- Responsive Search Ads
- Dynamic Search Ads
- Shopping Ads (special type described further below)

Google Ads, YouTube Ads
First To Be Hidden
More Details:
See much more details about Google Adwords above. Google dominates about 90% of the search market, and YouTube gets more searches than all other search engines combined, except Google, and it happens to be owned by Google. YouTube also happens to be top 1st or 2nd social media platform.

Microsoft Ad Network - Bing Ads, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, DuckDuckGo, Ecosia
First To Be Hidden
More Details:
After Google and YouTube, the Microsoft Ad Network includes the top Search Engines, and some of them focus on specific niches. If Search Ads are going well on Google Adwords and you want to supplement with an additional platform, then the Microft Ad Network is usually next in line, especially with Bing Ads. Microsoft can also be considered for other ad types like display and video.
Bing and MSN are microsoft-owned properties.
Yahoo also has their own ad platform and ads can be placed directly with Yahoo or through the Microsoft Ad Network.
AOL is one of the original search engines, even pre-dating the creation of Google.
DuckDuckGo is a search engine that does not track user behavior. Ads are shown based on keyword relevance only.
Ecosia is a search engine that is focused on “green” environmental efforts. They use their profits to plant trees and they use 100% reusable energy.
WorldWide there are two other top Search Engines, Yandex and Baidu which are not included here because Mirex Marketing helps clients in the US only, and these search engines serve non-US markets more.

Reddit Ads
First To Be Hidden
More Details:
Reddit is technically a search engine, though its known better as a Q&A and voting social media site. It’s specifically listed here because Reddit user questions and answers often show up in Google search results. People even include the word “Reddit” as part of their Google search query because they just want to see Reddit results in response to their query.
Also, Reddit has very specfic niche groups of users who are asking and answering questions. Reddit Ads are able to leverage this to target users with very unique interests compared to other advertising options. Reddit also has a large percentage of users who are not on any other social media site, meaning you cannot reach those users anywhere else but Reddit.
Technically any website with a search feature is a search engine (or powered by a well-known search engine). This includes Local Business Directories like Yelp, which we’ve noted as a special category below, Local Business Directory Ads.

Ads on Local Business Directories
Many ad platforms on Local Business Directories are meant to be self-serve platforms. Yet, Mirex Marketing has a low budget ad management option if you do not want to manage these ads on your own. These are Local Business Directories, so of course they are meant for local businesses. A local businesses either has at least one physical location that customers can visit, or they are a service business that provides onsite services within a specific geographic area. See also Local Marketing & Reputation Management.
Some of these might try to sell ad management services on other platforms. We do not recommend their services; these are only listed as an option to advertise on their direct properties only. We guarantee our ad management services are better. Don’t let their sales reps oversell you. Talk to us first.
Among general Local Business Directories, Yelp Ads is usually the most effective (except Google Ads, which is associated with the Google Business Profile). Some of the niche directories (TripAdvisor, OpenTable, etc.) might be more effective for their particular niches. Not only can we manage your Yelp Ads, but we can also take all of your calls from aggressive Yelp sales reps, or aggressive sales reps from any other Local Business Directory.
If a particular Local Business Directory includes customer reviews as a feature, then the ads will perform better with the more positive reviews that you have. In some cases you may also want to advertise on that platform so that you can get more active users from that platform who will leave reviews for you on that platform.
Here we are only listing paid advertising platforms. If you are looking for places to create a free profile then see Local Marketing & Reputation Management, Mirex Academy, and the Downloads Page.
Local Business Directory Ads might include the following ad types:
- Search Ads
- Profile Enhancement (removes competitor links from your profile)
- Pay Per Lead – When someone uses the contact features on your profile to contact you.
- Lead Generation Companies -The platform generates a lead, then sells the lead to you. This is technically not PPC+, but it’s relevant here. In a lot of cases they are a PPC middleman.

Yelp Ads

More Details:
Yelp has both profile upgrades and ads. Conversions for ads might include phone cals, messaging the business, getting directions, and requesting a quote.
The “Request A Quote” feature gets the most attention and businesses are notified of quote requests via email. This is not a favorite feature of businesses that prefer calls. The business must also act quickly to respond to quotes because the user is usually shopping around and getting multiple quotes.

Yellow Pages Ads, ypLocalAds

More Details:
They claim that their network consists of YellowPages.com, Superpages.com, Yahoo!, Dexknows, Yelp, Mapquest, CitySearch, and Nextdoor. But most likely they run ads on their own platform, YellowPages.com and Dexknows, and then manage ads for you on the other properties. There is no verification that they are all part of an ad network, plus Yelp and Yahoo! have their own ads. We only list Yellow Pages here as an option to advertise on their direct platform. We do not recommend their ad management services.

Frequently Asked Questions about Local Business Directory Ads
Click the + icon on each to toggle the answer.
If I advertise on Yelp will they filter less reviews?
This is a subject of huge debate between business owners and Yelp. There are many business owners who claim that yelp will filter less reviews if you run ads on Yelp, however they can only claim this anecdotally. Yelp has third party verfication that their review platform is seperate and distinct from their ads.
Should I run ads on local business directories or try a more general ad platform like Google Adwords?
Not to sidestep the question, but technically Google Adwords would be associated with your Google Business Profile, and that is the most important Local Business Directory.
If there is any search volume for your brand, products, services, or the pain points they resolve then Google Adwords is usually the first and best ad platform that you’d want to consider, especially for local businesses. See the stats under the Google Ads section above.
There are a few reasons to consider other platforms besides Google Adwords:
- You’ve peaked in leads from Google Ads, reaching a point of diminishing returns and you need to add additional marketing channels to supplement it effectively.
- Your industry is so oversaturated in Google Ads that you have to diversify your marketing.
- There is a platform that serves your particular niche better.
- You don’t have the minimum effective budget for Google Ads so you need to try low budget options.
If you have tried Google Ads and it didn’t work then first contact us to make sure it was done right. If it was done right and it didn’t work after a fair optimization period of at least 3 months, or if you need to add to your marketing mix in addition to Google Ads, then you can explore other options which may include Local Business Directories or other general ad networks such as the Microsoft Ad Network (though to be technical, that’s also associated with Local Business listings on Bing and Yahoo).
The sales rep is trying to sell ad management or other digital marketing services besides just advertising directly on their particular platform. Should I do it?
No.
At the very least contact us first. We will generally manage your marketing better than they will, especially if they are offering some amateur service like building a website for you on a “web builder”. (See Website Services).
Are any of these Local Business Directory Ad platforms lead farms or lead generation companies?
Many of the ones listed above are not, but yes, some of them are.
This meant that they might have sold the lead to you as well as 2-3 of your competitors. But an FCC ruling changed that, so many of these companies have to change their model.
Since these platforms have a much larger advertising budget than you have, they may even be generating those leads on Google Adwords or another larger ad network. They are essentially driving up the cost of the ads for you as an independent advertiser.
We suggest advertising on your own first. Even if you pay a little more per lead than they will, the quality of lead will be much higher than if the lead came through a middleman.
Even though it’s aggrevating to to support a competitor for clicks, not just any competitor but one who drives up the entire market, it can be beneficial to have both direct advertising and purchase leads as part of your marketing mix, if the generation company actually sends you relevant leads (that’s a big “if”, they often don’t) and if you have a sales process to respond the leads quickly.
Local Business Directories (besides Google, Bing and Yahoo) are also competiting with you organically in search engine results, though it is still important for your SEO to have the free profiles on each of the ones that list your business category. See Local Marketing & Reputation Management.
Are these all the local business directories that offer ads or enhanced listings?
No, there are many more. This is just a sample of some of the top ones and its a good demonstration of the different offerings.
Some local business directories are monetized in other ways besides selling enhanced listings and ads. Some sell data to sales teams or developers, including map data to car navigation devices. Even if they deal with local business data they are not necessarily appropriate to list here, since this page lists resources for advertising. See also Local Marketing & Reputation Management, Resources, and Downloads.

Mobile Apps Ads
Mobile Apps Ads are ads that appear in ad-supported mobile apps. Sometimes apps might have a free version that is supported by mobile ads with the option to pay to hide the ads. Apps are also monetized through in-app purchases.
Mobile App Ads are used to promote app downloads. They are also used to reach the app-user audience for any purpose using display and video ads.

Apple Search Ads

Microsoft Ad Network - App Install Ads

Ecommerce Ads, Shopping Ads
Shopping ads on general ad networks like Google Ads will display specific products. This requires that your ad account be connected to an inventory feed, like Google Merchant Center. Google Local Traffic Campaigns can also display inventory from a specific store branch for local foot traffic.
Ads on specific marketplaces are usually used to promote products listed in the marketplace. An exception to that is Amazon ads, which can be used whether you have products listed on Amazon or not; ads can have external links bringing users away from Amazon.
Mirex Marketing serves clients with WordPress Ecommerce sites or WooCommerce Stores. A WooCommerce store can be integrated with online marketplaces for expanded reach of products. The ad platforms on these marketpalces can then be used in turn to sell more products and build a list of customers for remarketing and promoting your own store.

Frequently Asked Questions about Ecommerce Ads
Click the + icon on each to toggle the answer.
Why do you list all these marketplaces but leave out Shopify and BigCommerce?
Mirex Marketing helps clients who use WooCommerce, which is the ecommerce plugin for WordPress. Shopify and BigCommerce are alternate ways to build your own ecommerce store, which are generally not as recommended as WordPress WooCommerce sites. However those who use Shopify might be interested in Shopify Ads.
Once a WooCommerce site is built there are integrations to list products on Google Merchant Center/Google Ads, Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and Etsy marketplaces, so we include those advertising sources because it can be part of a WooCommerce store owner’s strategy to list products on those marketplaces, increase sales through ads and then remarket to those customers.
The other advertising sources we list here still allow you to advertise your products even if you don’t have listings on a marketplace that they own, or they are not even marketplaces. They might be other resources to promote ecommerce though paid ads, such as advertising a coupon.
Is affiliate marketing the same as ecommerce advertising?
The ecommerce advertising options listed here are PPC+, meaning we run display, video and shopping campaigns on an advertising network and you as the advertiser would pay per click and possibly other high value actions besides clicks. It is especially important to understand remarketing in ecommerce advertising, because ads can be shown to potential customers who have shown interested in your products but did not complete the checkout process.
Affiliate marketing is not PPC+, but it is another fantastic way to promote ecommerce products, because it gives you a salesforce with no up-front costs. Anything sold online can be sold through affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is when an affiliate marketer signs up for your affiliate program and they receive unique trackable link. The promote their unique link online. When a user clicks their link and purchase your product then the affiliate earns a commission.
Do you have other resources for ecommerce besides paid advertising?
Yes. The next most common service besides paid ad management is probably email marketing, but you can talk to us about marketing service.
Also, check out the Resources page for more ecommerce resources.
Display & Internet Video Advertising
Most PPC+ ad paltforms include the option for display advertising, and most platforms that offer simple display ads will also offer video ads. This section can virtually be infinite. We included it here to be comprehensive of different types of ad media (other sections have search, native ads, audio, etc.). More Details:
There are thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands, of websites online that have enough traffic to offer advertising on their own without being part of an ad network. They usually focus on a specific niche like style, food, or humor.
Sometimes a few of these websites will team up or be owned by a parent organization that offers advertising on all of them as part of a small network.
Examples of these sites include Chambers of Commerce, the websites of local newspapers and popular websites that attract a specific demographic, such as boredpanda.com or ebaumsworld.com.
Display ads are the most common ad type on these sigle sites and small networks. They are often native ads, a specific type of display ad made to look like the native content of the site. See Native Ads below.
Some of these, especially newspaper sites, will try to upsell marketing services. We do not recommend those services. At the very least talk to us first. Mirex Marketing account managers are not sales people, we are consultants.
Mirex Academy (will have) a course that demonstrates how to find these sites. The downloads page will also have an ebook that lists many of them.
Frequently Asked Questions about Display Advertising

Does display advertising require ad creatives in multiple sizes?
Traditionally, display advertising networks had standard sizes for different banner ads depending on where they would appear on a website. Usually the ones that appeared at the top of a site would be a long horizontal rectangle, and the ones that would appear on the side bar would be square or a vertical rectangle. Some ad networks will still accept these creatives and deviver them on available inventory (the size has to match the space available). However many display ads are now responsive, which means we give the platform more simple images and a set of headers and descriptions that it can use and it will combine available options and automatically adapt it for available ad spaces
What is the goal with display advertising?
Display advertising might be used at all stages of the customer journey – awareness, consideration, leads and sales. Different ad platforms might call the different stages of the customer journey different names or they might call the customer journey a funnel. In general here is what they mean:
Awareness – Introducing a new product, service or brand to the market and helping targeted consumers be aware of it for when they need to recall it. This is similar in some ways to traditional advertising but it’s more targeted. The ad would display to potential customers generally for the first time with no prior activity or behavior, because the goal is to make them aware of something new.
Consideration – These ads are often shown to customers who have already shown interest in the service, product or brand by visiting a website, watching a video through to the end, or other behavior. They have not made an attempt to purchase yet. Consideration is one goal of remarketing.
Leads – leads might be a goal for reaching a new audience or remarketing. Bidding for leads means the business wants the customer to call or contact them. Search ads are often used for leads, but display ads can also produce leads.
Sales – Particularly for ecommerce ads, driving sales can be a goal of remarketing to people who started the checkout process but did not complete it. It would be remarketing to a list of people who abandoned the shopping cart.
What is remarketing?
Remarketing is when ads are shown to users who have shown interest in your business before. Maybe they clicked on previous ads, visited your site organically, watched your video or other behavior to show interest.
Remarketing can be acheived with display ads, video ads or email marketing.
Remarketing is a very effective form of marketing. The audience is closer to becoming a lead or customer because they’ve already shown interest, and they are usually easier to convert than a fresh audience. Similar to the principle often quoted by sales people, a contact needs to be touched 6 to 12 times before becoming a customer.

Native Advertising
Native Advertising is a form of text and display advertising where the ads are made to look like the native content of the website where they are displayed. It can be thought of as the online counterpart to tradtional newspaper and magazine advertising since news and magazine websites are among the most common sites where these ads are displayed. They tend to be “advertorial” in nature, meaning they are paid ads but appear more like the editorial. They are perceived as a less intrusive type of ad and often have higher click-through-rates than other display ads.

Internet Radio Advertising, Audio Ads
Online audio ads are the modern form of radio advertising, and they include the benefits of digital advertising such as targeting, bidding and conversion tracking capability.
Most traditional radio stations may still broadcast through traditional radio frequency, but they are also online now. In addition to traditional radio streaming their content online, internet radio can also include independent artist marketplaces, podcasts, audio books, comedy and other spoken word programs. Audio ads can be delivered through any of these programs.
Audio ads can be used by any type of business who would traditionally advertise on the radio as part of their marketing mix. Audio ads are used for both awareness and leads. Musicians and audio content publishers would also look to audio ads as their first consideration for paid advertising.

Can I advertise on Apple Music
Apple Music does not seem to have a PPC+ platform that we could find. However they do have Apple Music Marketing Tools for artists and music publishers.
What if I want to advertise on a resource not listed above. Can you still help with that?
Usually, yes. We can still help. Our creative services can help you produce the ad. We can also work like a traditional agency to have your ads placed on your preferred channel. Some private radio stations online and offline may not permit agency help, but that is rare. Some advertising stations will include creative production as part of their service, but some will treat this as a checklist item instead of focusing on creating a good ad. We are available for consulting to help you ensure that it’s a ad that is optimized for conversion and represents your brand well.
Also note that there are resources above that might still get you on the station you want. For example iHeartRadio represents most traditional radio stations across the US.
Does Mirex Marketing PPC+ Ad Management include creative production?
Mirex Marketing PPC+ Ad Management includes creative production for text and display ads. Audio and video ads may require a production budget that is seperate from the management service.

Streaming TV Advertising, Over The Top (OTT) Ads, Connected TV (CTV) Ads
Streaming TV Advertising is a growing industry which has brought all the benefits of digital advertising to television. Namely it has the targeting, bidding and tracking benefits that tradtional TV advertising does not have.
The traditional, non-internet-connected TV is called “linear TV” in digital marketing, and while it still exists, it has been on the decline for years. More and more consumers are “cutting the cord” and switching to “Connected TV”, which is any TV that is connected to the internet, either with built-in technology or through the use of an external device, like the Fire Stick or Roku. Early 2022 is when there were more CTV users than linear TV, and the two lines continue to diverge year after year.
Technically Over The Top (OTT) ads is a more blaket term that includes all streaming TV advertising, and Connected TV (CTV) Advertising specifically refers to advertising on TVs that are connected to the internet. The two terms are often used interchangeably, but the places where the ads are purchased and managed is different, plus where the ads are delivered are not exactly the same. OTT Ads are not only delivered to CTVs but also desktops, mobile phones and tablets that are streaming the same content which is normally viewed on CTVs. CTV ads might include more display advertising than video, since the ad inventory is on the introductory screens before the user selects the channel or app.
Over The Top Advertising on Streaming TV Publishers
Video On Demand (VOD) services can be categorized as Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD), Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD), and Ad-supported Video On Demand (AVOD). However, most major Subscription Video On Demand services have added advertising to their lowest paid tier, so it is both subscription based and ad-supported. Premium Video On Demaind (PVOD) is the option to rent or buy new releases, which may even be movies that are still in the theater. A particular service can be more than one type of VOD.
There are also cable replacement, live TV streaming providers. These might be called Multi-Channel Video Programming Distributors (MVPD). When a streaming channel requires a cable subscription it is categorized as Television Everywhere (TVE), to imply it is both on cable and online. There is also Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST).

Frequently Asked Questions about Streaming TV Ads
Click the + icon on each to toggle the answer.
There are other streaming services besides the ones listed above. If I want to advertise on one of those, can Mirex Marketing still help with that?
Yes, contact us to discuss your goals. The ones listed above are some of the more common samples but as an agency we have access to much more.
At the very least we can help with commercial-grade video ad creatives.
Contact us to let us know what you have in mind.
This must be super expensive since it's on TV, right?
Actually it’s about the same or less than any other legitmate advertising, including the other ad options listed above. There are some who say you can start with a budget as low as $500/mo, but we suggest $1,000 to be a better starting point for these types of ads.
This is one of the most cost-effective ways to spread awareness as a campaign goal. The cost per view-through (when the consumer watches the entire ad) is often less than the cost per click in other digital advertising.
Since this is streaming TV, does that mean I'm advertising nationwide? I have a small business in a local market.
Streaming TV comes with all the same benefits as other digital advertising, such as powerful features of targeting, including geotargeting. We can run ads just in your local market, even if it’s just within a radius of your physical location.
Is there conversion tracking?
It’s a legitimate question since the user experience on Streaming TV is much different than Search Ads for instance. People don’t have the ability to click the ad and go to a landing page for a contained and trackable experience.
Awareness is a primary objective for these types of ads, but they do provide leads and sales and there are conversion tracking options. They can scan a QR code with their phone. They might be logged into their streaming platform with an email address and have the option to request an offer by email (which is a click to agree with the TV remote). There are a few different possible conversions.
Can Mirex Marketing help my business with linear TV ads?
Linear TV is what marketers call tradtional TV to distinguise it from Connected TV.
Mirex Marketing tends to focus on digital platforms. Yet, if you’re really interested in Linear TV ads, then, yes, we can help.
Does Mirex Marketing include the ad creative production with PPC+ ad management?
Standard text and display ad creatives are included with ad management. Audio and Video ads might require a separate creative production budget, especially for commercial-grade ad creatives.

Influencer Marketing
Influencer Marketing is when an “influencer” with a high social media following is hired to promote your services, products or brand to their followers. It is a modern PR-Advertising or advertorial hybrid.
These campaigns are managed and monitored in a similar way as PPC+, but the promotional message is more organic or educational in nature. Since it’s techncially not paid advertising, these promotions would not be subject to the strict policies of some of the advertising platforms above. Though the influencer would still need to follow some rules of disclosing that they are paid.
Ad Creatives Production Services
Creative services include copy writing (or script writing), graphic design, photo editing, audio and video production. These services can be applied towards ad creative production, but it doesn’t stop there because there is more to the user experience than simply viewing your ad. Your website also needs the appropriate content. Mirex Marketing creative services are available for any marketing needs that your business might have, whether your are promoting your business through advertising or oraganic means, both online and offline. That includes all creative services up to and including commercial-grade audo and video production.

WordPress Websites & Conversion Optimization
While some digital advertising platforms can capture leads without the user having to click through to visit the website, the overwhelming majority of PPC+ still requires a landing page where the ads lead to. Mirex Marketing can help build a business-grade website for your business which would include conversion optimization so that you website actually finishes the job of converting website visitors into leads. This is one of the reasons why you’d want a marketing agency like Mirex Marketing, who specializes in both websites and digital advertising, to build your website.
Popups & Email Marketing
Popups are a fantastic way to improve website conversions and capture visitor contact information. And Email Marketing is the most cost-effective form of remarketing. Many of the ad platforms above are great for remarketing at different stages of the customer journey funnel, yet for some verticals email marketing is also essential.
Email Marketing is particularly useful for B2B businesses, coaching business, businesses with sales teams, ecommerce, retail and any business that has freuent sales and discounts or has a need to educate their clients on an ongoing basis. It can be used to help get new customers, get current customers to spend more and get current customers to spend more often.

Multi-Channel Conversion Tracking
Running ads on just one or two platforms can be simple enough, but once the business starts using three or more channels then the results can start to get ambiguous.
This is especially true for traditional or offline marketing channels that don’t have the tracking built-in to their particular media. Mirex Marketing can help you set up conversion tracking or additional conversion tracking for any and all marketing channels that you might be using, whether you are promoting your business online or offline. One of the more common ways is to set up call tracking for each channel, though there are other forms of tracking available.
Setting up Converstion Tracking for Multi-Channel Marketing can be provided as a stand-alone service or as part of consulting or marketing management.
Marketing Management Services
Mirex Marketing does not just offer PPC+ Ad Management. We have multple marketing management services from Creative Director to Fractional CMO. We call the Fractional CMO service an Independent Marketing Manager, since we manage your marketing as an independent contrator. If you’re looking to build your marketing team with members of your marketing team any level, then talk to us. Generally if we can help you fill that role without you having to hire someone in-house, then it will ultimately save you money and still give you effective marketing for growth.

Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate Marketing is like having a free sales force online, or least a sales force with no up-front costs. Anything that can be sold online can be promoted with affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing is when anyone who becomes an affiliate for a publisher gets a unique affiliate link. They promote that link where ever they can online. When someone clicks their link and buys the product, then the affiliate earns a commission.
Affiliate Marketing often overlaps with PPC+ because the link tracking technology is the same. There are multiple affiliate marketing networks; some are built exclusively for affiliate marketing and some are offered by advertising platforms.
The downloads page has The Big Book of Affiliate Marketing For Affiliates And Publishers. Get the book to learn more.
Place Ads On Your Site For Revenue (For Publishers)
There are multiple ways to generate revenue with a website. Two of those options are to build your own advertising platform and/or allow another ad network to place ads on your site for shared revenue.
These are only recommended if the website itself is a main part of your business offerings. For example, if you have a plumbing business then you should not place ads on your site. But if your business is a magazine or newspaper, then placing ads is almost expected. These are often called publisher sites.
Advertising Networks that allow you to place their ads on your site are called Sell Side Platforms (SSPs). The downloads page has The Big Book of Digital Advertising, which is an ebook that explains how to build your own platform and it lists multiple SSPs.

Advertising Offline
See the Resources section to find various offline advertising options and tools. These include various print options that can be used synergistically with your digital advertising. One example is we can place a code on your website which helps detect who up to 30% your website visitors are and automatically send them a postcard which they perceive as coincidence.
For businesses in the Phoenix area, the Downloads page has an ebook that describes major offline advertising options in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area.
Social Media Advertising (SMA)
Technically any site that has Web 2.0 features is a social media site. Web 2.0 features are any features that allow users to add content to the site or communicate with each other. And Social Media Advertising would include any paid ad placements or paid boosting of what is published organically.
Any content-rich site would also be valuable for Organic Content Marketing, such as sites that allow you to publish images, video, audio, etc. Yet the traditional social media features are sites that allow you to like, comment, share, follow, chat, leave reviews and more. Many of these paid ad platforms will include these metrics as part of their reporting for ad performance.
We have generally only listed the top social media sites in the United States, since that is where Mirex Marketing clients are located, and where their target market is. Some of these platforms may not be owned by American companies; most of them are, and the ones that are not will still have a substantial American user targeting audience.
Here we have only listed the top social media sites that have advertising options on their platforms. For more social medias sites where you can promote your business see also Social Media Marketing, Mirex Academy and the Downloads page.

What is the difference between boosting a post and Facebook Ads?
Local Business Directories like Yelp have a lot of social features too. Why aren't they listed here?
We acknolwedge that they are social media sites too, but we have a specific section for Local Busienss Directories above. In some instances we might include a platform in more than one section with it applies. Nextdoor is one example because of the way it is meant to be used. Yelp is intended to be a Local Business Directory.
Does Mirex Marketing ad management services include production of ad creatives?
Standard text and display ad creatives are included with ad management services. More advanced creatives like audio and video might have a production fee. See Creative Services and Content Marketing for more information on each type of media. Also, schedule a no-pressure free consultation.
