Best Hosting Providers Optimized for WordPress

Top WordPress Hosting Providers
These providers are the top choices for WordPress hosting. They are specifically optimized for WordPress speed and performance. If you think of your website as a collection of files, then these are the servers or computers where your website files are stored online and connected to the internet.
Mirex Marketing has a policy not to hold digital properties hostage. Any website you pay to have built should be your own, not that of the developer who built it. That’s why when we build sites, we build them on your hosting account and no one else’s. Yet, it is also important to note that all hosting services are “rented” and must be renewed in a timely manner to keep them. Purchasing more than one year in advance and setting to auto-renew are the best ways to avoid service interruptions.
Mirex Marketing can build a business-grade website and manage it for you. Learn more about Website Services.
If you would like Mirex Marketing to build, manage or migrate your site, you do not have to go through the process of purchasing the hosting on your own, we can set up a video meeting and help you through it via screen share.

SiteGround
Powerful & Affordable WordPress hosting with good support.
Details, Discounts
Why use SiteGround for WordPress hosting? Here is their answer:
“SiteGround is one of the leading hosting providers, trusted by the owners of 3,000,000 domains. As a renowned hosting provider, SiteGround has a great reputation for 24/7 expert support, bundled with an extensive list of services and solutions, crafted especially for WordPress, including a free WordPress installation, autoupdates, staging, backups, smart WAF, and others. On top of that, SiteGround offers in-house crafted plugins that help streamline otherwise complicated technical operations.”
They include some very significant features to their service to improve WordPress security and performance. On average, WordPress sites that migrate to SiteGround load 85% faster.

WP Engine
What we would call the “Ferrari” of WordPress Hosting.

Bluehost
Strong reputation for WordPress Hosting. Often voted as “The Best”.
Details, Discounts
Often voted as one the best overall hosting providers for WordPress and it’s one of the most affordable. It’s not as powerful as options like WP Engine or Pressable, but it is certainly one of the best shared hosting providers and often sufficient for small or local businesses. They have been recommended by WordPress.org for many years. Other hosting providers that are cheaper are usually not good enough for WordPress.

Kinsta
Excellent WP hosting with some of the best support available.
Details, Discounts
This is a “Managed WordPress Hosting Plan” provider and their support really is some of the best available. All of the hosting providers on our list have good support, but Kinsta very well might have the best. They also have monitoring in place to ensure that your WordPress website is running smoothly.

Pressable
Another “Ferrari”-type hosting service by the creators of WordPress.
Details, Discounts
Pressable is an upscale Managed WordPress Hosting provider. It is a product of the creators of WordPress which provides business-grade hosting with high security and performance features for WordPress. They also offer WordPress.com which we do not recommend for business hosting, though it is still good for personal or hobby websites.

GreenGeeks
This is the top choice if you’re “green” conscious. Excellent WordPress hosting option.

WordPress VIP
An Enterprise solution by the creators of WordPress. A product of Automattic.
More Details
From Automattic, the creators of WordPress, combine the ease of WordPress with enterprise-grade security and scalability.
This is enterprise-grade hosting which might be used by nationwide-brands and corporations with large marketing teams, such as Time Magazine, Local & Federal Governments, Large News Networks, Meta (yes, the Meta that owns Facebook), and others.

The Watch List:
The following resources could also be decent options for WordPress hosting:
More Details
Hostinger – Recommended by WordPress.org. Frequently on lists of top WP hosting.
InMotion Hosting – Frequently on lists of top WP hosting
Dream Host – Frequently on lists of top WP hosting.
The Following are specifically NOT recommended for WordPress hosting or building websites.
We can still work with you if you are using these services, but if you’re choosing a new service then the ones above are better for various reasons. It is the hosting that we are not recommending; these resources might have other good services or tools.
GoDaddy Hosting is not recommended – It’s a great Domain Name Registrar; for hosting we are not a fan of the way they throttle traffic.
Host Gator is not recommended – This tends to be a popular one but we haven’t had the best experiences with it for WordPress.
WordPress.com is not recommended for business websites – Do not confuse with WordPress.org. For multiple reasons we suggest using your own hosting with an independent installation of WordPress.
Namecheap Hosting is not recommended – Namecheap tends to live up to their name. It is some of the cheapest hosting available, but choosing the cheapest option is not the best idea for a business. Though it’s OK to use for a Domain Name Registrar.
Any “Web Builder” is not recommended – We do not consider these to be business-grade sites capable of achieving marketing objectives. See Website Services for more info.
Frequently Asked Questions about WordPress Hosting
If you are a client of Mirex Marketing, you do not have to purchase hosting on your own. We can do a video meeting with you to help you through each step and make sure you have what you need. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions.
Frequently Asked Questions about WordPress Hosting
Click the + icon on each to toggle the answer.
Should I buy a domain name with my hosting provider?
You can buy your domain name with your hosting provider or you can keep them separate. There are Pros and Cons to both options. It’s more convenient to have them in one place but it’s more secure to have them separate. We hope to earn your full and complete trust but we can’t speak for anyone else you may hire who will require access.
Do I need Doman Name Privacy?
You will certainly get spam calls, email and snail mail if you do not have it, especially if registering a domain name that is clearly for a business. Yet, whether you actually need to keep your contact information private would really depend on whether the address for your business is private or not. Most home-based businesses would want domain privacy; a lot of businesses with a public address would want it public and not pay extra.
Do I need the security upgrades that hosting tries to sell me?
It’s always better to have more security than less, but the cost is always a factor. If you plan on subscribing to the Webmaster Service then that will give you a lot of basic security features, such as backups kept independent of hosting and a firewall plugin. There’s a lot more information on the resources for WordPress Security & Performance and Website Services.
I've completed the purchase for hosting and the setup wizard is prompting me to set up WordPress. Do I need to do that part?
It’s up to you if you want to do that part or stop there. If we are building your site then we can take it from that point and you don’t have to do anyting else. Again, we can do the whole thing with you on a video meeting if you’d like.
What is the difference between Shared WordPress Hosting and Managed WordPress Hosting?
A “shared hosting plan” means you are sharing server space with other websites even though you have your own account. Imagine it’s your own apartment in an apartment building. An upgrade from shared hosting is VPN hosting, which stands for virtual private network. It’s still semi-shared but they set it up more like you’re own penthouse. An upgrade from that is dedicated hosting, which means you own the whole building. Most small businesses start with shared hosting until or unless they know they will have website traffic that demands more hosting resources.
Managed WordPress hosting can be shared hosting, VPN hosting or dedicated hosting. If it’s managed then that means they set up methods of automated updates for WordPress and other automated maintenance tasks.
If I have Managed WordPress Hosting then do I still need the Webmaster Service?
If you are using a hosting provider on the list above for Managed WordPress hosting then we will often discount the Webmaster Service. It still helps because the Webmaster Service does some things that managed hosting does not. There is a good reason to have a backup stored independent of hosting, plus the Webmaster Service is more personalized and it also means that you don’t have to publish content or make changes to current content as your business evolves. See more about the Webmaster Service.
Some of the links to paid resources on this page might offer us a commission at no additional cost to you, if you click on the link on this page to get them. In some cases you might even get a discount by using our links. These are tools that we’d recommend even without the option to receive a commission. Paid or free, they were selected because either we’ve tried them or they have an outstanding reputation within the digital marketing community for being effective and well-developed. The only exception to that is when we provide links to other lists which we don’t control, but they may provide additional, useful resources.
